The much awaited official Android app world was finally launched by Google last week. On first visit, the interface seems clean and organized with a decent search feature. So here's a quick look at some of the coolest apps available in the Android Market.

BROWSER

Dolphin Browser HD provides that web 2.0 feel from the moment it starts up. The app cupports lots of Add-ons, multi tabs, multi touch, gestures, themes, 14 languages, bookmarks, RSS detection and more. Great eye-candy and powerful features make a compelling case to make this the default browser on an Android device.

BLOGGING

Posterous, the blogging platform that brought simplicity to the blogosphere has its own android app to facilitate quick and easy online publishing of text, photos and video while on the move. Apart from publishing to your Posterous blog, you can also setup your content to be sent to other frequently used sites like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa etc.

The long awaited official Blogger app is now finally available. Allows switching between multiple Blogger accounts, viewing post list and publishing articles with labels, pictures and even location details. However, there are some flaws to be ironed out like deleting a post seems to delete it from the blog itself, doesn’t allow image re-sizing, no video support etc. Hopefully future versions will take care of these issues. In its current form, still good enough for casual bloggers I guess.

WordPress users have a sturdy app supporting Wordpress.com and self-hosted WordPress blogs. Enables publishing of new posts, editing content, viewing stats and comment management with built-in notifications.

Twidroyd is a standard twitter client available in free and pro versions. The free version will do for most of us if we can live with the in-app promotions. This app supports multiple accounts, direct messages with threaded view, postings, mentions, lists, viewing use profiles, URL shortening, photo & video posting, share tweet via email/SMS, color themes, multiple languages, SSL for secure connectivity, custom alert ringtones etc. All-in-all, a complete app for twitter users.

The official Gmail app comes with most standard gmail features like sync, conversations, search, stars, labels, contacts, priority inbox etc. Sometimes the notification does not seem to work consistently and attachment handling could be better; otherwise this works well for gmail needs.

Yahoo! Mail users have an official app too supporting standard email features like multiple accounts, integration with Yahoo! Messenger, rich text composing with attachments and emoticons, push notifications, search, smart folders etc. Sometimes seems a bit slow and shows incorrect number of unread messages, but does the job for Yahoo! users.

MEDIA PLAYER

DoubleTwist is a great replacement for the default music player many Android phones seem to come with. This app is an all-in-one music player, radio and video player. It's best feature is the ability to sync music playlists, music ratings and playcounts with iTunes on your PC or MAC!

What other apps do you use regularly?
