Since the explosion of youtube and vimeo, many video-centric ministries have made their way into the Christian side of the Internet. PWT has covered some of them here. In this post, we'll look at a unique video ministry called 'I am Second.' According to their website, "I am Second is a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others. Actors. Athletes. Musicians. Business leaders. Drug addicts. Your next-door neighbor. People like you. The authentic stories on iamsecond.com provide insight into dealing with typical struggles of everyday living. These are stories that give hope to the lonely and the hurting, help from destructive lifestyles, and inspiration to the unfulfilled. You’ll discover people who’ve tried to go it alone and have failed. Find the hope, peace, and fulfillment they found."
What they provide are high definition videos neatly categorized under subjects like abuse, affluence, divorce, prostitution, racism, sex addiction, success, trauma, abortion, marriage, self-esteem, relationships etc.
Apart watching the video stories of different people from various walks of life and learning from them, you can also share your inspirational story.
The site also invites you to join in their inspirational movement by finding an 'I am Second' Group nearby where you live, spreading the word using the free wallpapers & promotional graphics, registering your group with them and applying to be a Church or Ministry member in the I am Second network.
There are some free PDF downloads on 'How to Start A Small Group', 'Film Discussion Guide', a prayer journal template and more. Requires registration though.
The major downside is, you can only watch the videos. The site has zero sociability - no embed options like youtube or vimeo.
